NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its Men’s Volleyball Student-Athletes of the Week for matches played between Monday, March 17 and Sunday, March 23.
 
Hitter: Carson Steinbach, North Central, Junior (Media, Penn.)
Steinbach averaged 3.50 points and 3.25 kills per set while attacking at a .328 clip to help the Cardinals to a pair of CCIW wins last week.
 
Steinbach had 18 kills, 10 digs and five assists for NCC in its five-set upset of Carthage last Wednesday in Naperville. Three days later against Illinois Wesleyan, he posted eight kills on a .412 hitting percentage and seven digs in the Cardinals’ three-set win.
 
Setter: Tyler Donovan, North Central, Graduate Student (Lindenhurst, Ill.)
Donovan narrowly missed a career high with 54 assists in Wednesday’s win over Carthage. His final tally was the third-most assists in a match in North Central history. He also had seven kills in the win.
 
Saturday against Illinois Wesleyan, Donovan tacked on six kills without an error, 24 assists and three service aces. He averaged 9.75 assists, 1.63 kills and 1.00 dig per set during the week.
 
Defensive: Owen Hendricks, Carthage, Sophomore (North Aurora, Ill.)
Hendricks delivered 2.75 digs per set for the Firebirds last week. He had 17 digs and a solo block in Wednesday’s five-set match at North Central. He also contributed offensively, tallying 22 kills between in two league matches.
