NAPERVILLE – Loras senior Corey Mayotte repeated as College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Volleyball Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year and Augustana’s Max Sellers earned his second straight CCIW Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year honor to headline Tuesday’s All-CCIW Teams announced by the league office.
Carthage junior Ryan Morey was voted CCIW Setter Student-Athlete of the Year, while Loras freshman Evan Dziadkowiec collected the CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year award. Sixth-year Carthage head coach JW Kieckhefer was named CCIW Coach of the Year for the fourth time.
Mayotte joins Carthage’s Matt Slivinski (2020-22) as the only repeat winners of the CCIW Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year award after claiming the same honor in 2024. He finished the 10-match league schedule as the CCIW leader with 5.31 kills and 5.66 points per set. He also notched a .420 hitting percentage, fourth-best among CCIW hitters. He’ll enter Wednesday’s CCIW Championship semfinal as the national leader with 5.28 kills and 5.96 points per set over the full season.
Sellers seized back-to-back CCIW Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year accolades, joining Zach Bulthuis of Carthage (2020-21) as the only repeat winners in league history. Sellers delivered a league-high 3.08 digs per set against conference opponents and was the only CCIW libero to eclipse the 100-dig plateau with 114.
Morey is the first player from Carthage to receive the CCIW Setter Student-Athlete of the Year award. He averaged 10.57 assists per set for the Firebirds while also contributing 1.46 digs per set and seven total blocks. He directed the CC offense to 461 kills in 10 CCIW matches, most in the league.
Dziadkowiec was the lone freshman to land on the All-CCIW First Team after leading the CCIW in assists with 11.06 per set. His full-season average of 10.92 assists per set currently leads Division III.
Kieckhefer, who previously was named CCIW Coach of the Year in 2020, 2021 and 2022, led the Firebirds to their second straight regular-season conference crown with a 9-1 league record. It’s their third outright CCIW championship and their fourth title overall since 2021. Carthage is currently ranked #6 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) national rankings with a 20-3 overall record and were ranked as high as #4 in March.
Mayotte, Sellers and Carthage’s Ryan Cholewinski and Owen Otto were repeat selections to the All-CCIW First Team. Additionally, Mayotte and Sellers are now four-time All-CCIW selections in their careers, making them just the fifth and sixth players in league history to be recognized four times.
Ben Heise of Carthage and Tyler Donovan of North Central were named to the First Team on Tuesday after making the Second Team last season. Ben Schultz of Augustana and Cooper Lundal of North Central repeated as Second Team picks.
