GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Illinois Wesleyan University softball standouts Jen Kuhn and Ava Khoury continued to add to their storied careers Tuesday, June 17, as the duo was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America teams. Kuhn, who reeled in first team status, was also voted the CSC Division III Softball Academic All-America of the Year, while Khoury grabbed third team honors.
In all, IWU has seen 23 Academic All-America selections in softball, the most across Division III and seventh-most among all NCAA divisions and NAIA. Kuhn is the first in program history to be tabbed the CSC Academic All-America of the Year, while she is the 10th overall for Illinois Wesleyan. She joins Lexi Onsrud (women's at-large - golf - 2024), Matthew Leritz (men's basketball - 2022), Meg Stanley (women's at-large - swimming - 2017), Rachel Anderson (women's track & field - 2008), Keelan Amelianovich (men's basketball - 2006), Korey Coon (men's basketball 1999 & 2000), James Rinne (baseball - 1998), and Lon Erickson (football - 1997). Together, Kuhn and Khoury are just the sixth set of Titan softball teammates to receive the honor in the same season. They are the first since Sam Bergoff and Ally Wiegand in 2020.
Furthermore, IWU's all-time Academic All-America list now sits at 166, which is top-25 across NCAA Division I, II, and III, as well as top-10 in Division III. The duo joins Nick Roper (men's basketball), Mallory Powers (women's basketball), Lauren Huber (women's basketball), and Kannyn Boyd (women's volleyball) as the fifth and sixth Titans to receive the distinguished honor this academic year.
Kuhn put together an incredible senior season for the Green and White, reeling in a long list of accolades and etching her name in the IWU softball record book among the all-time greats. The Normal, Ill. native graduated with a degree in graphic design while maintaining a 3.98 grade point average. She was voted National Firstpitch Coaches Association First Team All-America and received the Rawlings Gold Glove Award at shortstop. Kuhn was voted the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Defensive Player of the Year and picked up First Team All-CCIW status for the third straight season. She hit .449 on the year with 70 hits, 17 doubles, eight homers, 57 runs batted in, and 38 runs scored. A three-time CCIW Hitter of the Week pick, Kuhn set the program record for career doubles and tied the career mark for hits.
Graduating with a degree in kinesiology and allied health, Khoury concludes a career that saw the Columbia, Ill. native start every game over the past four years at first base. In her final season donning the Green and White, Khoury hit .375 with 51 hits, 14 doubles, a team-best nine homers, and 50 RBIs. A First Team All-CCIW pick, Khoury picked up NFCA Hitter of the Week distinction after an outstanding CCIW Tournament performance. She graduates as the program record holder with 35 homeruns and ranks second all-time with 145 RBIs.
Illinois Wesleyan compiled a 37-9 overall record in 2025, breaking the program's longest win streak record with 25 straight victories. The Green and White won the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin regular season and tournament championships, while winning a regional in the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament for the first time since 2019.
