CCIW Football Honors: Ombogo, Araiza, McCloud Named Weekly Honorees

NAPERVILLE --- North Park and Millikin players made big impacts on the field in non-conference play as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Student-Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday afternoon.
Offensive honors go to Jereme Ombogo of North Park. Millikin linebacker Alex Araiza earned defensive recognition, while North Park’s Wesley McCloud rounds out the weekly honorees for special teams.
 
Offensive: Jereme Ombogo, North Park
Ombogo made six catches for 198 yards and three touchdowns in the Vikings’ 35-19 win at Ripon on Sept. 6. The senior wideout from Houston scored all three of his touchdowns in the first half, helping NPU build a 21-0 lead.
 
Each of Ombogo’s scores came on plays of 37 yards or more, including a 98-yard strike from quarterback Justen Green on the first play of the second quarter.
 
Defensive: Alex Araiza, Millikin
Araiza, a senior linebacker from San Antonio, Texas, registered nine tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery to lift the Big Blue over Luther on Sept. 6, 33-3. He also had a sack for MU, which won its first game since 2022 for new head coach Billy Riebock.
 
Special Teams: Wesley McCloud, North Park
McCloud returned two kickoff for 123 total yards, including a 95-yard return for a touchdown to open the second half of NPU’s win at Ripon.
