NAPERVILLE — North Park junior Alexandra Pugachova picked four wins in the Vikings’ season-opening dual matches versus MSOE and Judston to secure College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week honors in women’s tennis on Wednesday afternoon.
The Lund, Skåne, Sweden native paired with Katja Carlberg to win at the top of doubles lineup versus MSOE last Friday, a 6-0 decision over Lana Brooks and Ana Kamiyama. She went to win at #2 singles as well, defeating Delaney Premeau without dropping a game, 6-0, 6-0.
The following day against Judson, Pugachova and Thea Gifvars put up a 6-1 win at #2 doubles versus Ruth Hernandez and Nicol Valeria. She moved up to the #1 singles position and won her fourth bout of the weekend, 6-2, 7-6 over Erin Jacobs.
