NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The depth of attacking talent in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin men’s soccer was on display again this week as a fifth different team had a player secure Offensive Player of the Week. Meanwhile, the stout defense of North Park University continued to show out in a 2-0-0 week in which a third different Viking defender claimed Defensive Player of the Week recognition.

Conference play takes center stage this week with a pair of quadruple-headers on Wednesday and Saturday. All the action can be seen live and for free with the CCIW Network.

Offensive

Luke Vander Kolk, Wheaton (Forward, Senior, Stamford, Conn.)

Vander Kolk helped secure three points for the Thunder in a win over Millikin on Wednesday, overcoming the elements and scoring a brace in a span of less than eight minutes in a 3-1 victory. Vander Kolk opened the scoring in the fifth minute and then added a second – the game-winner – in the 13th minute. He finished with eight shots (five on goal) in the match and followed that with two more shots in a loss this weekend to No. 15 Calvin that included an effort that hit the post.

Defensive 

Melker Regland, North Park (Goalkeeper, Junior, Uddevalla, Sweden)

Regland was the latest North Park defensive player to earn weekly honors after playing 180 minutes in goal this past week and picking up two wins. Making his first career starts, Regland first notched six saves in a 1-0 shutout of UW-Platteville midweek. Coming back on Saturday with a road match at Augustana, Regland made three more saves and didn’t allow a goal until the 87th minute when AC was able to convert on a corner kick.
