NAPERVILLE — Junior guard Mason Funk of Illinois Wesleyan was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday morning. Funk received the honor after helping No. 13 IWU to two road victories that secured the program’s 34th CCIW regular-season title.
 
Funk averaged 31.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.0 blocks per game over the two contests. He shot 60.0 percent from the field, converting 24 of 40 attempts.
 
Funk opened the week last Wednesday with 33 points in a 76-71 win at North Park. He finished 14-of-22 from the floor and added eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and a team-high five blocks. The victory clinched at least a share of the conference title and marked the 200th career CCIW win for head coach Ron Rose.
 
He followed on Saturday by leading the Titans to the outright league title with a 75-56 win at Augustana. Funk recorded 29 points on 10-of-18 shooting while also posting eight rebounds, five blocks, two assists, and two steals.
 
By securing the outright regular-season title, Illinois Wesleyan (21-4, 13-3 CCIW) earned the No. 1 seed and hosting rights for the upcoming CCIW Tournament. The Titans will play in the tournament semifinals on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Shirk Center.
