Guzman’s National Championship Leads CCIW Weekend in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — North Central senior Chip Guzman highlighted the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin’s (CCIW) showing at the 2026 NCAA Division III Men’s Wrestling Championships, winning the national title at 125 pounds at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse. The CCIW was represented at the national championships by student-athletes from North Central, Elmhurst, Aurora, Millikin and MSOE
 
Guzman won the 125-pound national championship with a 19-3 technical fall over Coe’s Brayden Park in the finals to complete an undefeated 37-0 season. He became the fourth individual national champion in North Central program history and concluded his collegiate career as a four-time All-American with 140 career victories.
 
In addition to Guzman’s national title, North Central was represented by four additional national qualifiers as the Cardinals finished tied for 13th in the team standings. Senior Casey Aikman, the CCIW champion at 184 pounds, advanced to the consolation quarterfinals with three victories, including two by technical fall, and concluded the season with a 27-12 record. Senior Joshua Robison competed at 141 pounds and reached the blood round before closing his season with a 19-7 record. Sophomore Jake Luce added a preliminary-round victory at 174 pounds and finished the year 29-11, while freshman AJ Frescura competed at 197 pounds and completed his first collegiate season with 29 wins.
 
Elmhurst sophomore Rhenzo Augusto earned All-America honors at 157 pounds with a national runner-up finish. Seeded sixth in the bracket, Augusto defeated Wartburg’s third-seeded wrestler in the quarterfinals before posting a 9-2 decision in the semifinals to advance to the championship match. He finished the season with a 32-3 record and became the 20th All-American in Elmhurst program history. Freshman Ryan Hinger also represented the Bluejays at 149 pounds and completed his first collegiate season with 30 victories.
 
Millikin freshman Mateo Casillas competed at 197 pounds and finished 2-2 in his first appearance at the national championships. His tournament included a technical fall victory in the consolation bracket, and he closed the season with a 30-6 record. Casillas was also named the CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year this season.
 
MSOE’s Toren Vandenbush competed at 174 pounds and recorded a 12-5 decision in the preliminary round. Aurora senior Cam Johnson represented the Spartans in the 157-pound bracket and concluded his collegiate career on the national stage.
