NAPERVILLE --- Carroll completed a 2-0 week and continued its unbeaten start as the Pioneers’ performance was rewarded in Tuesday’s College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) women’s lacrosse weekly awards.
Senior Elizabeth Wang was selected as Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week and graduate student Grace Tumilty earned Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week honors.
Offensive: Elizabeth Wang, Carroll
Wang totaled 11 points in two games to lead the Carroll attack as the Pioneers improved to 3-0 on the season. The Buffalo Grove, Ill. native opened the week with five points on two goals and three assists in a 16–2 win over Marian last Wednesday, then led all scorers in a 14–4 road victory at Aurora on Saturday with four goals and two assists.
Defensive: Grace Tumilty, Carroll
Tumilty, a defender from Willowbrook, Ill., anchored a Carroll defense that limited its two opponents to a combined six goals. In the win at Aurora, Tumilty recorded 10 caused turnovers to set the Carroll single-game record. She also contributed in transition, combining with Samantha Hurd for 10 ground balls as the Pioneers held Aurora to 12 total shots.
