NAPERVILLE — The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced Millikin sophomore Summer Wynn and Illinois Wesleyan senior Gianna Certa as the Softball Student-Athletes of the Week on Monday afternoon.
 
Hitter: Summer Wynn, Millikin
Wynn was selected as the CCIW Hitter of the Week after helping Millikin to a 3-1 record against North Central and Carroll. The infielder/outfielder from Morocco, Ind. batted .643, going 9-for-14 with 10 runs batted in. She also recorded a double, a triple, a home run, two sacrifice flies and two stolen bases during the week as the Big Blue moved to 9-3 in conference play.
 
Pitcher: Gianna Certa, Illinois Wesleyan
Certa was named the CCIW Pitcher of the Week after posting two shutout victories for Illinois Wesleyan. The Third Lake, Ill. native worked 12.0 innings without allowing a run, striking out 21 batters and walking none. She threw a five-inning no-hitter against Carroll, striking out 11 and retiring the first eight batters she faced by strikeout.
 
Certa returned to the circle Sunday against Carthage and earned a 1-0 complete-game shutout, striking out 10 and allowing six hits. The win helped Illinois Wesleyan clinch its fourth consecutive CCIW regular-season championship outright. Certa closed her CCIW regular-season career with a 23-0 record.
