Augustana [Men] [Women]
Men: The Vikings are currently ranked 18th in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) top 25 coaches poll. The Vikings finished up the regular season with a seventh place finish at the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational on October 16. Matt Bowman (Geneva, Ill./H.S.) placed 15th (24:58) while Mike Tisza (Prospect Heights, Ill./Hersey) was 35th (25:24).
Women: Theresa Coverick (Palos Park, Ill./Stagg) recently finished seventh (23:33.4) in the 6K, leading Augustana to a second place finish at the Bob Tucker Invitational on October 15. Hannah Hottle (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth-Roseville) placed 10th with a time of 23:46.4.
Carthage [Men] [Women]
Men: The Red Men recently placed 22nd as a team at the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational. Jake Mahaffey (Mahomet, Ill./Mahomet-Seymour) finished 66th with a time of 25:44.44 while Justin Sebens (Seymour, Ill./Mahomet-Seymour) was 108th (26:18.76).
Women: The Lady Reds placed 25th at the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational as Katie Kummerer (Willowbrook, Ill./Hinsdale-Central) finished 110th (23:55.88) while Molly Lawrence (Plainfield, Ill./Central) was 135th (24:16.56).
Elmhurst [Men] [Women]
Men: Pat Austin (Yorkville, Ill./H.S.) finished 45th (25:28.48) at the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational as the Bluejays placed 21st as a team. Elmhurst also placed 10th at the Dan Houston Pre-National meet on October 9 as Austin was 21st (26:32). His brother Jake Austin (Yorkville, Ill./H.S.) finished 37th (26:56).
Women: The Bluejay women finished 22nd at the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational as Hannah Williams (Rockford, Ill./Guilford) placed 97th (23:36.66). Elmhurst recently finished second at Benedictine University’s Eagle Invitational as Amanda Anderson (Ottawa, Ill./H.S.) was sixth (24:13.42).
Illinois Wesleyan [Men] [Women]
Men: Wally Farris (Woodstock, Ill./H.S.) was Illinois Wesleyan’s top finisher at the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational, placing 42nd (25:29). As a team, the Titans finished 17th. Max Lustick (Olivette, Mo./Ladue Horton Watkins) was 82nd (25:46).
Women: The Titan women finished 13th at the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational as Elise Anderson (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton-Warrenville South) placed 50th (22:59). Liz Ave Maria (Morton Grove, Ill./Regina Dominican) was 65th (23:12).
Millikin [Men] [Women]
Men: Hosting its own H.W. Wright Classic on October 15, Millikin’s Drew Blaase (St. Joseph, Ill./St. Joseph-Ogden) was seventh in the 8K with a time of 29:35.5. Kevin Martin (Bradley, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) was 10th (30:37.01).
Women: Millikin’s Ashley Thomasma (Petersburg, Ill./PORTA) finished second in the 6K with a time of 27:08.6 while Kelsey Borchelt (Oswego, Ill./H.S.) was third (27:29.1) at the Big Blue’s own H.W. Wright Classic.
North Central [Men] [Women]
Men: The defending national champion Cardinals were recently ranked No. 1 in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) top 25 coaches poll. The Cardinals have been the nation’s top-ranked team for four weeks and reaffirmed their ranking with a first place finish at the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational. Michael Spain (Schaumburg, Ill./H.S.), who was undefeated during the 2010 regular season, won the 8K with a time of 24:22. Matt Perez (Hanover Park, Ill./Hoffman Estates) was fifth (24:45) while Nathan Warstler (Georgetown, Ill./Georgetown-Ridge Farm) was 12th (24:52).
Women: The Cardinals recently finished 10th at the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational as Amanda Laesch (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North), a five-time recipient of the CCIW Runner of the Week in 2010, was fourth (21:39). Lauren Hooks (Decatur, Ill./Mt. Zion) placed 43rd (22:51).
North Park [Men] [Women]
Men: Freshmen David Duvall (Mundelein, Ill.) and Erik Nystrom (Karlstad, Sweden) will be the only competitors on the men’s side for North Park at the CCIW championship this weekend.
Women: Freshman Erin Zimmerman (Goshen, Ind.) will be the lone Viking competing at this weekend’s CCIW championship.
Wheaton [Men] [Women]
Men: The Thunder men recently finished eighth at the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational as Parker Thompson (Tremont, Ill./H.S.) was 28th with a time of 25:19. Mark Phillips (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton Academy) finished 30th (25:20).
Women: Wheaton finished 16th at the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational as Jennifer Lewis (Pitman, N.J./H.S.) was the Thunder’s top runner, placing 48th (22:58). Sara Greeley (Jericho, Vermont/Mount Mansfield Union) was 81st (23:26).
