2010 CCIW SAAC Service Project

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- For the third straight season, the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) membership had another successful conference-wide service project.

The Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) at each of the CCIW schools took part in the conference's third annual service project, collecting over 1,800 pounds of hygiene products, which were then donated to a charity of each school’s choice.

CCIW institutions competed against one other in the collection of these hygiene products. Augustana was the winner of the competition, collecting 724 pounds. Carthage was second with 558.7 pounds, followed by Elmhurst (216.5 pounds), North Park (203 pounds), North Central (58.2 pounds) and Illinois Wesleyan (42 pounds).

As the winner, Augustana will receive money to support campus SAAC activities after the college collected the most pounds of hygiene products for this year’s event. North Park won the CCIW’s winter clothing drive last season while Carthage won the CCIW’s shoe collection drive two years ago.

“The CCIW membership continues to put its best foot forward,” CCIW assistant commissioner Mike Krizman said. “Everyone worked very hard for the third year in a row.”
