How has your military training helped shape your athletics career?
My military training has helped shaped my athletic career both physically and mentally. Physically, the Army’s emphasis on fitness has kept me in shape for football season. But more importantly, the mental toughness that is instilled in every military training has helped me get through tough practices and games on the football field, and to inspire others around me to do the same.
What's the biggest benefit you take away from your training?
What I take away the most from my military training is that I am a part of something greater than myself. I learn that every job and every mission has a role in the overall goals of the Army and of the United States. The football field is no different. Every position has a role that must be done well in order for the team to win the game. Both the Army and football emphasize the importance of this teamwork.
What ultimately drew you to compete at WashU and what do you enjoy most about your institution?
What ultimately drew me to compete at WashU was that the school offered me the flexibility to pursue my interests on and off the football field and develop myself as a scholar-athlete. The academic rigor of WashU does not take away from my extracurricular opportunities like football and ROTC, but rather provides me a structured schedule to develop all my interests and pursue them further.
The people I am surrounded by is what I enjoy most about WashU. The wide variety of students, professors, athletes and cadets that I’ve met here have taught me a lot and have inspired me to push myself to be the best I can be.
