NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Spencer Stanek and Shane Dierking, along with Wheaton’s Sam Cote, were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Players of the Week Monday.

Stanek, a senior quarterback from Mokena, Illinois and Lincoln-Way East High School (Economics/Finance major), helped keep the Cardinals undefeated this season after a 46-17 road victory at Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday. He established career highs for completions and attempts, finishing 32-of-45 for 337 yards and three touchdown passes. He finished just one completion short of North Central’s single-game record and has thrown 118-straight passes without an interception.

Dierking, a senior defensive back from Wheaton, Illinois and Wheaton-Warrenville South High School (Management/Entrepreneurship major), led the Cardinal defense with 11 total tackles (seven solo) against Illinois Wesleyan. He also had 0.5 tackles-for-loss and a fourth quarter interception. His 14 career INTs are one short of the North Central record.

Cote, a junior punter/kicker from Wheaton, Illinois and Wheaton Academy (Applied Health Science major), scored 16 points during the Thunder’s 58-21 win over Millikin on Saturday. He was three-for-three on field goal attempts with kicks of 43, 35 and 25 yards. Cote was also a perfect seven-for-seven on PATs and averaged 46 yards on two punts.
