NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Zac Pacanowski and Wheaton’s Evan Rahn were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Baseball Players of the Week Tuesday.

Pacanowski, a junior catcher from Plainfield, Illinois and Plainfield North High School (Management major), batted .636 (7-for-11) with three runs, two triples, seven RBI and a 1.000 slugging percentage during a three-game weekend series against Wisconsin-Platteville in Jacksonville, Illinois. He finished 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI during a 21-1 win on Friday, March 8. He then finished 2-for-3 with a walk and three RBI in an 11-4 victory in game one of a doubleheader on Saturday, March 9. In game two, Pacanowski was 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI in a 4-3 loss to the Pioneers.

Rahn, a junior pitcher from Bettendorf, Iowa and Bettendorf High School (English & Political Science major), tossed a complete-game shutout in a 1-0 victory over Bethel (Minn.) on Saturday in Fort Myers, Fla. He held the Royals to just three hits and totaled five strikeouts.

During the 2011-12 academic year, the CCIW honored 1,323 academic all-conference recipients, 16 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 1 CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year, 89 all-Americans and three national championship teams.
