NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The 2017 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Women’s Soccer Tournament field was set in place after Saturday’s slate of contests closed out the regular season.
No. 4 seed Elmhurst (10-5-1, 4-4-0) travels to No. 1 seed and conference champion Wheaton (11-4-3, 7-0-1), while No. 3 seed Carroll (12-3-3, 4-1-3) travels to Illinois Wesleyan (15-3-0, 7-1-0). Both matches will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1.
The one-seeded Thunder, coming off their 19th regular season title, have qualified for every conference tournament dating back to 2002. Wheaton has won 13 tournament titles in that span, which also includes three national titles (2004, 2006, 2007). The four-seeded Bluejays are back in the CCIW Tournament for the first time since 2014 and fifth time overall. Wheaton defeated Elmhurst 2-0 on October 11.
The two-seeded Titans are the defending tournament champion and have won this event twice (2010, 2016). Illinois Wesleyan has also qualified for every conference tournament dating back to 2002 and the Titans’ farthest postseason advancement was the national semifinal round in 2014. The three-seeded Pioneers will make their second-straight CCIW Tournament appearance as they rejoined the conference last season after a 24-year absence. Illinois Wesleyan defeated Carroll 1-0 on September 30.
The highest remaining seed after the two semifinal matches will host the tournament championship on Saturday, November 4 at a time to be determined. The winner will earn the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championship.
