CCIW announces 2017 All-Conference Football Team

2017 CCIW All-Conference Football Team
 
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced the members of the 2017 All-Conference Football Team on Tuesday.
 
The all-conference team, selected by the CCIW’s head football coaches, selected 61 players to the team. CCIW co-champion North Central led with 14 players, while conference co-champion Illinois Wesleyan was second with 13 players. Carthage (12) and Wheaton (10) had the third and fourth-highest totals respectively.
 
North Central senior running back Austin Breunig (Sandwich, Ill./H.S.) was named the Art Keller Offensive Player of the Year, becoming the second-straight Cardinal to win the award after sophomore quarterback Broc Rutter won as a freshman. Breunig is also the first running back since Elmhurst’s Scottie Williams in 2012 to be named the Art Keller Offensive Player of the Year.
 
Illinois Wesleyan senior linebacker Jordan Hassan (Wheaton, Ill./Glenbard West) was named the Don Larson Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the first Titan since Nick Nikolich in 2009 to win the award.
 
Illinois Wesleyan’s Norm Eash won his sixth Bob Reade Coach of the Year honor and first since 2009 after leading the Titans to a share of the CCIW title and an at-large berth to the NCAA Division III Football Championship.
 
Both North Central and Illinois Wesleyan will take part in the NCAA Division III Football tournament this Saturday as the Cardinals host Saint John’s (Minn.), while the Titans host Case Western Reserve. Kickoff is scheduled for Noon CST for both games.
