North Central's Kanthaphixay named CCIW Women's Tennis Player of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Alaina Kanthaphixay was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week on Wednesday.
 
Kanthaphixay, a freshman from Streamwood, Illinois and Streamwood High School (Exercise Science major), went 2-0 during an 8-1 win at Carroll last Tuesday. She teamed with Hannah Hougland at No. 1 doubles and picked up an 8-1 victory over Grace Krueger and Shanna Mogden. Kanthaphixay then defeated Lora Leach at No. 3 singles (6-1, 6-2). Additionally, Hougland and Kanthaphixay became the first Cardinal doubles team since 2009 to advance to the ITA Central Regional’s round of 16, picking up a first round win over Wooster’s Sarah Duran and Shannon Sertz (9-7) and a second round win over Denison’s Hannah Bradvica and Alexandra Cash (8-6).
