CCIW announces 2019 All-Conference Men's Soccer Team

2019 CCIW All-Conference Men's Soccer Team

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced on Tuesday the members of the 2019 All-Conference Men's Soccer Team.

CCIW regular season and tournament champion North Park led with six all-conference players including four on the first team (Angel Barriga, Erlend Kemkers, Gustav Ericsson, Peder Olsen) and two on the second team (Ulrik Lund, Shatil Khoury). 

North Central and Illinois Wesleyan each had four players earn all-conference honors. The Cardinals had three players on the first team (Marco Soto, Spencer Wiese, Alexis Flores) and one on the second team (Austin Lomardi), while the Titans had one player on the first team (Patrick Hickey) and three on the second team (Alex Ruckstaetter, Luke Cangilla, Doug Ballard). 

Three Carthage players were named to the all-conference team, including two on the first team (Ivan Esquivel, Jerry Patino) and one on the second team (Kevin Reilly), while Wheaton had three second team recipients (Justin Hill, AJ Moyes, Silas Galvao). 

Elmhurst had two first team recipients (Oliver Saile, Keegan Thompson), while Carroll (Shea Connell) and Millikin (Eli McClinton) each had a second team member..

Olsen, a junior midfielder from Larvik, Norway, won CCIW Offensive Player of the Year honors for the second-straight season, becoming the first back-to-back winner since Wheaton's Marshall Hollingsworth in 2014 and 2015. 

Saile, a senior defender from Bartlett, Illinois and Bartlett High School, was named the CCIW Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the Bluejays' first recipient of the award.

North Central's Enzo Fuschino and North Park's Kris Grahn shared CCIW Coach of the Year honors as both led their teams to the CCIW Tournament in their first seasons as head coach of their respective programs.

Galvao, a freshman forward from Houston, Texas and Goal International Learning Academy, became Wheaton's second-ever CCIW Newcomer of the Year following Hollingsworth in 2012.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services nine member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carroll University (Waukesha, WI), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2018-19 academic year, the CCIW honored over 2,200 academic all-conference recipients, 18 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 43 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, and over 100 all-Americans.
