Carthage's Szun, North Central's Ray named CCIW Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Carthage’s Andy Szun and North Central’s Jacob Ray were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week on Monday.
 
Szun, a senior attacker from Winnipeg, Manitoba and St. Paul’s High School (Business major), established a new school record for career points last week. He finished with one goal and three assists in a 12-11 loss at Rhodes on March 5, six goals and three assists in a 14-9 win at Huntingdon on March 7 and three goals in a 12-11 win at Birmingham-Southern on March 9. Szun now has 265 career points with 10 more regular season games scheduled in 2019.
 
Ray, a sophomore face-off specialist from Murrieta, California and Murrieta Mesa High School (Studio Art major), helped lead the Cardinals to their third-straight win in a 13-8 victory at Alma on March 9. He totaled 13 ground balls and was 18-of-24 (75 percent) on face-offs against the Scots.

During the 2017-18 academic year, the CCIW honored over 2,100 academic all-conference recipients, 15 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 28 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, and over 100 all-Americans.
