North Central sweeps CCIW Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Central's Tommy Huizinga and Steven Faux were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week on Monday.

Huizinga, a junior midfielder from New Lenox, Illinois and Lincoln-Way East High School (Business major), helped lead the Cardinals to a 2-0 record last week with six goals, two assists and four ground balls. He finished with three goals, one assist and two ground balls in a 7-4 win at Trine on March 12 and then matched those numbers in an 18-1 win over La Roche on March 15. 

Faux, a junior strong stick middie from Mineola, New York and Long Island Lutheran High School (Athletic Training major), totaled 17 ground balls and six caused turnovers for the Cardinals last week. He had seven ground balls and one caused turnover against Trine, as well as 10 ground balls and six caused turnovers against La Roche. Faux also had three goals and one assist versus La Roche while helping North Central move to 5-0 on the season.

During the 2017-18 academic year, the CCIW honored over 2,100 academic all-conference recipients, 15 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 28 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, and over 100 all-Americans.
