Augustana's Wilson, Carthage's Guercio named CCIW Softball Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Augustana's Carly Wilson and Carthage's Stefanie Guercio were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Softball Players of the Week on Tuesday.

Wilson, a senior infielder from Ringwood, Illinois and Johnsburg High School (Biology/Pre-Nursing major), batted .467 (14-for-30) with 12 runs, three triples, one home run, nine RBIs and a .767 slugging percentage as the Vikings went 8-2 on their spring trip to Clermont, Florida. Wilson also stole five bases out of six attempts. She finished with two three-hit games on the trip as she went 3-for-3 with one run, one triple and one RBI in a 10-2 win over the Milwaukee School of Engineering on February 26, as well as 3-for-4 with three runs, one home run and three RBIs in an 8-3 win over Rose-Hulman on March 1.

Guercio, a junior pitcher from Park Ridge, Illinois and Maine Township High School (Mathematics major), had a 1.34 ERA, with 36 strikeouts and one save for the Lady Reds last week. She pitched all seven innings and gave up just two hits and two walks, along with 16 strikeouts in a 1-0 win over Trine on March 3. Later in the day, she pitched 2.2 innings of relief with just one walk, seven strikeouts and a save in a 6-3 win over Wartburg. Guercio pitched six innings against Concordia Moorhead on March 4 as she gave up three earned runs, one walk and totaled 13 strikeouts.
