2019 All-Conference Softball Team

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced today the members of the 2019 All-Conference Softball Team as selected by the CCIW's head coaches. 

Illinois Wesleyan junior pitcher Ally Wiegand (Downs, Ill./Tri-Valley) was named the CCIW Pitcher of the Year as she led the conference with a 0.25 ERA, was 8-0 in 10 CCIW appearances and totaled 73 strikeouts to just two walks. Wiegand earned her second-straight First Team All-Conference honor while helping lead the Titans to their second-straight CCIW regular season title in 2019. She becomes the first Titan pitcher since Molly McCready in 2014 to be named the CCIW Pitcher of the Year.

Wheaton senior utility player Kelly Thornton (Carol Stream, Ill./Wheaton North) earned CCIW Player of the Year honors, becoming the first Thunder player to win this award since her sister Katie in 2015 and 2016. Thornton batted .442 (23-for-52) with 13 runs, eight doubles, one home run and 16 RBI in 16 conference games this season. On the mound, she was 5-3 with a 3.84 ERA and totaled 42 strikeouts in 11 conference appearances. She ends her career as a four-time First Team All-Conference selection.

North Central freshman outfielder Molly Cann (Kankakee, Ill./Herscher) was named the CCIW Newcomer of the Year, becoming the first Cardinals player to win this award since Amanda Walker in 2013. Cann was the CCIW batting champion in 2019 as she hit .469 (23-for-49) with 11 runs, five doubles, one triple, eight RBI and a .612 slugging percentage in 16 conference games this season. 

Illinois Wesleyan, under the direction of third-year coach Tiffany Prager, won CCIW Coaching Staff of the Year honors as the Titans won their second-straight CCIW regular season title and third-straight CCIW Tournament title. It was the 16th regular season title and 14th tournament title in program history.

Illinois Wesleyan senior outfielder Jillian Runyon (Pekin, Ill./Tremont) joined Thornton as a four-year First Team All-Conference selection as she batted .327 (17-for-52) with 18 runs, two doubles and two RBI in 16 conference games this season.
