NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Carroll's Shea Connell and North Central's Marco Soto were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Soccer Players of the Week on Tuesday.

Connell, a senior forward from Alfaz Del Pi, Spain and Elian's British High School, tallied a hat trick during the Pioneers' only contest last week. He scored all three goals in a 3-0 shutout at Wisconsin Lutheran on September 18, beginning with a rebound header in the fifth minute that turned out to be the game-winner. He scored his eighth and ninth goals of the season in the 86th and 89th minutes, respectively.

Soto, a senior goalkeeper from Summit, Illinois and Argo High School, was in goal for both matches last week as the Cardinals went 1-0-1. He played all 110 minutes and made four saves in a 0-0 draw at Dominican (Ill.) on September 18. Soto followed up with nine saves in 90 minutes of a 1-0 shutout at Lake Forest on September 21.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services nine member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carroll University (Waukesha, WI), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2018-19 academic year, the CCIW honored over 2,200 academic all-conference recipients, 18 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 43 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, and over 100 all-Americans.
