North Central's McHugh, Illinois Wesleyan's Best named CCIW Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Central's Madeline McHugh and Illinois Wesleyan's Amanda Best were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week on Tuesday.

McHugh, a senior midfielder from Chicago, Illinois and Marist High School, won her second-straight CCIW Offensive Player of the Week honor as she helped lead the Cardinals to a 20-2 non-conference win over Benedictine on March 11. She finished with match-highs of seven goals and six assists. McHugh finished with nine shots including eight on goal.

Best, a senior midfielder from Fitchburg, Wisconsin and Verona Area High School, closed out the 2020 season in a pair of contests on the east coast last week. She finished with an assist and one caused turnover against Westfield State on March 9, and a ground ball and one caused turnover against Nazareth on March 11. In both games, Best was matched up against each team's top offensive player.
