Andrew Kamienski and
Dan Gilroy of North Central and
Caleb Grotelueschen of Wheaton were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Student-Athletes of the Week on Monday.
Kamienski, a senior wide receiver and Entrepreneurship major from Pingree Grove, Illinois, broke the North Central school record for all-purpose yards (4,943) in the Cardinals' 55-7 victory over Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday. Kamienski caught ten passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns, marking the senior's fifth 100-yard receiving game of the season as well as his fifth-straight game with a touchdown catch. Kamienski caught touchdown passes of 13 yards and 27 yards for the Cardinals first two scores of the game.
Gilroy, a junior defense lineman and Exercise Science major from Cary, Illinois, established a new season-high with six tackles, all solos, including five tackles for loss and three sacks in the Cardinals' 55-7 win over the Titans. Gilroy's five tackles for loss is the fourth-highest single game total in program history. Two of Gilroy's three sacks came on first quarter third downs to force Titan punts.
Grotelueschen, a senior defensive back and Psychology major from Colorado Springs, Colorado, tallied a team-high 165 all-purpose yards in Wheaton's 69-20 victory over Carthage on Saturday. Grotelueschen returned three kickoffs for 116 yards (38.6 yard average) including a 44-yard return to open the second half. He also returned four punts for 49 yards, averaging 12.3 yards per return, including a long of 20 yards.
