North Central's Marinec, Lamm named CCIW Baseball Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Central's Rob Marinec and Luke Lamm were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Baseball Players of the Week on Tuesday. 

Marinec, a senior catcher from Alsip, Illinois and Shepard High School, helped lead the Cardinals to a two-game sweep of Ripon to open the season on March 7. He finished with an on-base percentage of .750 by going a combined 3-for-5 with a double, triple, walk and two hit-by-pitches. Marinec was 2-for-3 with two runs, one double and one RBI in a 12-0 win over Ripon in Game 1. In Game 2, Marinec was 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, a walk and three RBI in a 12-1 victory over the Red Hawks.
 
Lamm, a junior pitcher from Bolingbrook, Illinois and Plainfield East High School, struck out a career-high 13 batters over just six innings of work during a 12-1 win over Ripon on March 7. Lamm gave up just two hits and no walks against the Red Hawks. He leads the nation averaging 19.5 strikeouts per nine innings.
