NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) student-athletes concluded the NCAA's Division III Week celebration by joining Special Olympic athletes for a virtual workout on Saturday, April 10.

Stretch into Spring with Special Olympics took place Saturday morning as Augustana Strength & Conditioning Coach Jeff Rose led CCIW student-athletes and Special Olympic athletes in a 45-minute workout session. The session included stretching, bodyweight strength and bodyweight cardio workouts.

CCIW Assistant Executive Director Mike Krizman held a Disney trivia contest for the Special Olympic athletes during water breaks.

This was the second Special Olympics event the CCIW has held during the 2020-21 academic year. In February, the conference hosted a virtual Bingo Night with Special Olympics

During non-COVID years, both organizations have taken part in a joint bocce ball clinic where Special Olympics athletes teach CCIW student-athletes how to play the game. Both organizations plan to conduct Unified Bocce events together in the future.

Special Olympics is the world's largest sports organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities and physical disabilities, providing year-round training and activities to 5 million participants and Unified Sports partners in 172 countries.
