North Central's Edquiban named CCIW Women's Tennis Player of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Central freshman Mikayla Edquiban was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Wednesday. 

A native of Hawthorn Woods, Illinois and Mundelein High School, Edquiban went 4-0 in CCIW play last weekend. Edquiban and doubles partner Sydney Sawyer went 2-0 at the No. 2 position, beating Carthage's Sierra Sonnemaker and Faelan O'Shaughnessy (8-0), and Carroll's Lora Leach and Carolyn Merkatoris (8-2). In singles, she defeated Sonnemaker (6-0, 6-0) and No. 3, followed by a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Merkatoris at the No. 4 spot.
