NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Central's Rob Marinec and Millikin's Jared Buzan were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Baseball Players of the Week on Tuesday.

Marinec, a senior catcher from Alsip, Illinois and Shepard High School, batted .500 (6-for-12) with four runs, two doubles, a home run, seven RBI and a .917 slugging percentage for the 4-0 Cardinals last week. He also walked four times and was hit by a pitch twice for a .632 on base percentage. He was 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI in an 8-2 win over Carthage on May 5. Marinec was 2-for-4 with an RBI in an 8-7 win over Illinois Wesleyan on May 7, and then went a combined 2-for-5 with two runs, two doubles and three RBI in a double header sweep of the Titans on May 8. Marinec also threw out two of three attempted base stealers and picked off a runner last week. He moved into second place all-time in North Central history with 161 career RBI.

Buzan, a senior pitcher from Crete, Illinois and Illinois Lutheran High School, was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 16 strikeouts in two appearances for the Big Blue last week. He pitched five innings in a 6-2 victory over Carthage on May 9 as Buzan gave up no runs, just one hit and struck out 12 batters while earning a no decision. He picked up the win in Millikin's 12-8 victory at Carroll on May 5. Buzan pitched four innings, scattered three hits with no runs and four strikeouts.
