NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) has announced its Football Student-Athlete of the Week award winners, Monday. Carthage’s Cristian Beltran is the Offensive winner, Wheaton’s Jalen Shaffer collected the honor on Defense and Augustana’s Sidney Maroon is the Special Teams recipient.
 
Beltran lifted the Firebirds to their second consecutive CCIW victory, a 33-14 win at North Park. The sophomore from Katy, Texas was 19-for-34 for 309 yards and four touchdowns, driving Carthage’s 484-yard effort for the day. He threw a pair of scores in the fourth quarter, giving the Firebirds breathing room in the win. Beltran also rushed five times for 25 yards.
 
Shaffer starred for a Wheaton defense that shut out Elmhurst and limited the Bluejays to just 133 yards of total offense. A senior linebacker from Grand Rapids, Mich., Shaffer made eight tackles, 2.0 of which were for loss, and returned his first career interception 53 yards for a touchdown that gave the Thunder a 33-0 lead in the second quarter.
 
Maroon, a senior from Peoria, Ill., was 6-for-6 on point-after attempts and averaged 32.2 yards on five punts, four of which ended up inside Millikin’s 20-yard-line in Augustana’s 70-0 victory. Maroon also kicked off five times for an average of 51.4 yards.
