NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Central's Rob Marinec and Luke Lamm were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Baseball Student-Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.

Marinec, a senior catcher from Alsip, Illinois and Shepard High School, batted .571 (8-for-14) with a double, triple, two home runs, nine RBI and a 1.214 slugging percentage as the Cardinals went 3-0 over the weekend. He was 2-for-5 with one run, one double and three RBI in a 12-1 win over Blackburn in the season opener on Friday. Marinec then went 2-for-4 with one run, three RBI and a go-ahead three-run home run in the eighth inning of a 6-3 victory against DePauw on Saturday. He ended the weekend by going 4-for-5 with two runs, one home run, one triple and three RBI in a 16-4 win over Wilmington.  

Lamm, a senior pitcher from Bolingbrook, Illinois and Plainfield East High School, went six innings and picked up the win against Blackburn on Friday. He scattered three hits, gave up no earned runs and struck out nine batters. He held the Battlin' Beavers' hitters to a .130 batting average.
