Millikin softball ranked in NFCA Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Millikin University softball was ranked 21st in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll announced Tuesday, February 8.

The Big Blue claimed 38 points in the national voting to earn a spot on the Top 25. Millikin, led by co-head coaches Whitney Sowers and Katie Tenboer, finished 31-13 overall including a 24-8 record in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play last season. The Big Blue won their sixth CCIW regular season title and second under Sowers and Tenboer in 2021. They followed with a CCIW Tournament title and an NCAA Regional bid. It was the first tournament title since 1990 and first NCAA bid since 1994.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services nine member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carroll University (Waukesha, WI), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst University (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL).
