Alyssa Aragon and Wheaton's
Alese Antonello were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Softball Student-Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
Aragon, a senior utility athlete from Niles, Illinois and Niles North High School, became the first in North Park softball history to hit two home runs in one game twice on Saturday. She finished 2-for-2 with two runs, two home runs and seven RBI in an 11-1 win over Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on March 14. She hit two more home runs in a 9-0 shutout of Curry in the second game of the day, going 2-for-3 with two runs and seven RBI. She also set a new program record with 14 RBI in a single day.
Antonello, a sophomore pitcher from Pelham, Alabama and Restoration Academy, finished 2-0 with a 1.15 ERA in four appearances for the Thunder last week. She tossed a complete-game one-hitter in Wheaton's 3-0 shutout of Penn State-Behrend on March 8. Her second win of the week came in a 5-1 victory over Ohio Wesleyan on March 11 as she pitched her second complete game and gave up just one run. Antonello also picked up a save in a 9-4 win over Gordon, also on March 11.
