NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Carthage's
Carter Schmidt and
Gene McNulty were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Volleyball Student-Athletes of the Week on Monday.
Schmidt, a junior outside hitter from Germantown, Wisconsin and Germantown High School, averaged 4.00 kills and had a .400 attack percentage over two CCIW matches last week. He finished with 10 kills, two digs and one service ace in a three-set win over Illinois Wesleyan on March 23. Schmidt then totaled 15 kills, a .500 attack percentage, four digs, one block and one service ace in a three-set win at No. 4-ranked North Central on March 26.
McNulty, a sophomore setter from Oak Lawn, Illinois and Marist High School, averaged 10.80 set assists and helped the Firebirds to a .429 team attack percentage against Illinois Wesleyan and nationally-ranked North Central. McNulty finished with 17 assists, against Illinois Wesleyan, followed by 37 assists, two digs, two blocks and one dig at North Central.
