NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Millikin's
Camryn Skundberg and North Central's
Gianna Corban were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Softball Student-Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
Skundberg, a junior infielder from Mt. Zion, Illinois and Parkland College, batted .800 (4-for-5) with four runs, one double, a home run, three RBI and a 1.600 slugging percentage for the Big Blue last week. She went 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, one home run and three RBI in a 12-0 Game One victory over North Park on April 16. Skundberg then went 1-for-2 with a run in a 12-0 win over the Vikings in Game 2.
Corban, a senior pitcher from Morris, Illinois and Morris High School, went 4-0 with a 1.14 ERA, 42 strikeouts and just five walks in four appearances last week. She pitched six innings and struck out 11 batters in an 8-0 shutout against Carthage on April 12. Two days later, Corban earned a pair of victories against North Park as she combined for 20 strikeouts in 12.2 innings over the two games. She finished the week with 11 strikeouts in five innings of a 2-0 shutout of Mount Mary on April 15.
