NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) has announced its Women’s Soccer Student-Athletes of the Week. North Central junior forward Elle Sutter is the Offensive winner and Augustana junior goalkeeper Janey Castoe is the Defensive Recipient.
Sutter scored four times last week for the 18th-ranked Cardinals, including two-goal efforts last Wednesday versus Loras and last Sunday against Knox. The Peoria, Ill. native finished the week with 14 shot attempts, nine shots on goal and also added an assist in the victory over the Prairie Fire on Sunday. Tuesday’s announcement marks Sutter’s first weekly award from the league since Sept. 21, 2021.
Castoe, who was last CCIW Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week on Oct. 12, 2021, put up a 1.00 goals-against average in two starts last week. The effort included a 2-1 victory over Simpson last Wednesday in which the La Quinta, Calif. native made 10 saves and helped the Vikings overcome a 27-6 deficit in shots attempted. Castoe has a 1.19 goals-against average in 531 minutes of action this season.
