NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Elle Sutter and Illinois Wesleyan’s Kayla Borg are the winners of this week’s College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week awards, according to a Tuesday announcement from the conference office.
Sutter is a repeat Offensive choice after earning the same honor last week. This week, the junior from Peoria, Ill. scored four times in a pair of victories for the Cardinals. She tallied a 72nd-minute goal in last Wednesday’s 5-0 shutout of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, then broke out for her first career hat trick with three strikes in NCC’s 6-1 rout of Elmhurst in the CCIW opener.
Borg, a sophomore from McHenry, Ill., produced a pair of clean sheets for the Titans last week, her fifth and six career shutouts at IWU. She helped Illinois Wesleyan to a 0-0 draw at Albion last Tuesday with one save and added two more stops in the Titans’ 4-0 CCIW win at Carthage on Saturday. The performances lowered Borg’s season goals-against average to 1.00 and lifted her saves percentage to .818.
