Week 8 Football Student-Athletes of the Week Announced by CCIW

NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its Week 8 recipients of the Football Student-Athlete of the Week award.

Offense: Caleb Titherington, Wheaton
Titherington, a sophomore receiver from Matthews, N.C., became just the 17th player in league history to score five touchdowns in a CCIW game in Wheaton’s 52-6 victory over Carroll. Titherington caught five touchdowns – a new single-game Wheaton record – as part of his performance that featured eight grabs for 116 yards.

Defense: Zack Orr, North Central
Orr spearheaded the Cardinals’ defensive effort in a 49-3 triumph over WashU. The Mokena, Ill. native made seven tackles, all of which were unassisted, and tacked on 3.0 sacks. The sack total was tied for third-highest in single-game North Central history. Two of the sacks came in NCC territory and helped stop potential WashU scoring drives.

Special Teams: Nick Mullet, Elmhurst
Mullet boomed four punts for 190 yards, an average of 47.5 yards per kick in Elmhurst’s 29-27 win over Millikin. Included in the performance was a 64-yard punt in the fourth quarter that flipped the field for the Bluejays and ultimately set up a go-ahead scoring drive.
