NAPERVILLE – Rob Marinec of North Central and Harrison Boushele of Augustana have been selected College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Baseball Student-Athletes of the Week, according to a Tuesday afternoon announcement from the conference office.
Marinec, a fifth-year catcher from Alsip, Ill., opened the campaign with consecutive multi-hit efforts against Ripon, Blackburn and DePauw in the #23 Cardinals’ 3-0 start in Carbondale, Ill. He finished the week 8-for-13 with three doubles and a pair of homers while also driving in six, scoring eight runs and swiping a bag in the opener against Ripon. He was perfect defensively in 26 opportunities.
On the hill, Boushele was the star in the Vikings’ 7-1 win at Rhodes last Saturday in Memphis. The junior right-hander didn’t allow an earned run and struck out 11 over 7.0 innings of work. The Aurora, Colo. native threw 91 pitches, scattered four hits and did not issue a walk.
