NAPERVILLE – College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athletes of the Week in men’s lacrosse are Carthage’s George Burchfield (offense) and North Central’s Jake Allgood (defense), according to a Tuesday announcement from the league office.
Burchfield, now a two-time CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week and an All-CCIW selection last season, scored a career-high seven goals for the Firebirds in their 21-12 win over MSOE on Saturday. The junior from Mokena, Ill. added an assist and also finished the contest with season highs of 13 shot attempts, nine shots on goal and eight points. Carthage has won seven of its last nine outings
At the defensive end, Allgood made a season-high 17 saves in goal to help the Cardinals maintain their perfect league record in a 13-7 CCIW victory at Transylvania last Saturday. Tuesday’s announcement marks the third career CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week choice for the Naperville, Ill. native.
