NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) selected Millikin first baseman Andy Niebrugge and Augustana righty Harrison Boushele as Student-Athletes of the Week after the final week of the baseball regular season, Monday afternoon.
 
Niebrugge helped MU finish the regular season with a splash, hitting a walk-off home run Saturday night against North Park to cap a 7-for-11 (.636) week in which he also doubled twice, scored six runs, swiped a bag and drove in six.
 
The sophomore from Teutopolis, Ill. had three multi-hit games during the week – part of a stretch of five consecutive multi-hit games since April 29 – and crushed a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning of Saturday’s 7-6 triumph over North Park in Decatur.
 
Boushele won the CCIW’s weekly pitching honor for the fifth time of the 2023 campaign after limiting Wheaton to one run over 7.0 innings as Augie clinched the outright CCIW regular-season title last Friday in Carol Stream, Ill. He struck out 12, one shy of a season high, and walked only one.
