NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) recognized Illinois Wesleyan’s Casey Wissmiller (offense) and Millikin’s Aly Armstrong (pitching) as Softball Student-Athletes of the Week on Monday afternoon. Wissmiller and Armstrong helped their squads share the regular-season CCIW title on Saturday.
 
Wissmiller, a freshman from Bloomington, Ill., was 5-for-11 (.462) with a double and homered three times for the Titans, who swept Augustana Saturday to clinch a share of the CCIW title. The third baseman also drove in seven runs and slugged at a 1.364 clip while perfect in 13 defensive chances. 
 
In the circle, Armstrong did her part to secure Millkin’s slice of the championship. The Effingham, Ill. native logged a 1.88 earned-run average in three starts over a four-day stretch, winning all three decisions over 24.0 innings of action. She beat Carthage, Carroll and Elmhurst, including a 10.0-inning shutout of the Pioneers on Friday in Waukesha in which she struck out 12. The senior finished the three outings with a combined 24 strikeouts.
