Women’s Soccer Student-Athletes Recognized By CCIW

NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced Elle Sutter of North Central (offense) and Caitlin Fitzsimons of Carroll (defense) are the league’s Student-Athletes of the Week in women’s soccer, Tuesday afternoon.

Offensive: Elle Sutter: North Central
Sutter, a 5-foot-9 senior from Peoria, Ill., scored in all three of the Cardinals’ matches last week, including a two-goal performance in a 7-1 triumph over Kalamazoo on Saturday in Naperville. The forward also scored for North Central at Calvin last Wednesday and delivered the match winner in NCC’s 2-1 win over Transylvania on Sunday.

Defensive: Caitlin Fitzsimons, Carroll
Carroll earned its first-ever victory over a ranked opponent thanks in part to Fitzsimons, who helped the Pioneers shutout 19th-ranked Loras 2-0 with four saves last Wednesday in Waukesha. She followed with another 90-minute clean sheet Friday at St. Norbert as the Pios won 4-0. The senior from Chicago made three saves in Friday’s win and now ranks seventh in CU history with nine career shutouts.
