WARRENVILLE, Ill. – College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Pre-Championship favorite Wheaton finished the job on Saturday afternoon, placing all five runners in the top 15 to earn its 16th CCIW Women’s Cross Country Championship victory with a team score of 50 points at St. James Farm Forest Preserve.
The result marked Wheaton’s first championship since 2022 and sixth title since 2016.
Emma Odle of Augustana was the individual winner, nearly 30 seconds ahead of the rest of the field with a winning 6K time of 21:30.41. It was the fastest time at a CCIW Championship since Hannah Roeske of Wheaton won the event on the same St. James Farm course in 21:27.1 in 2018. Odle is also Augustana’s first CCIW champion since Susan Paige won the 1998 race at Hickory Point in Decatur, Ill.
Julia Benes of North Central was next on Saturday at 22:00.34, helping the Cardinals to a third-place team finish. Defending champion Adriana Crabtree of Illinois Wesleyan placed third in 22:18.87 to vault the Titans to a runner-up team finish.
The top Wheaton finisher was Caroline Stetina in sixth place at 22:33.63. All five of the Thunder’s top runners finished within 31 seconds of each other and just 94 seconds off the winning pace. Sophia Huber (eighth) and Elizabeth LaBrin (10th) joined Stetina as All-CCIW First Team honorees.
The fourth-place finisher on Saturday was Carroll’s Keagan Knue, who also received the CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Meet award. Kylie Smith led Carthage to a fourth-place team showing with a final time of 22:30.20, fifth place in the final individual standings.
