NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its Women’s Volleyball Student-Athletes of the Week on Monday for matches played between Monday, Oct. 28 and Sunday, Nov. 3.
 
Hitter: Kaitie Rohe, Carthage, Senior (Palos Heights, Ill.)
Rohe, an outside hitter/right-side hitter, averaged 3.89 kills and attacked at a .388 clip in three matches for the Firebirds last week. Her average point total across nine sets was 4.22.
 
Rohe started the week with 10 kills in a three-set sweep of Wheaton last Wednesday. She followed on Friday with 14 kills on 22 swings without an error – a .636 hitting percentage – in the Firebirds’ three-set win over Wisconsin-La Crosse. The Palos Heights, Ill. native closed the week with another strong performance – 11 kills and a service ace – against Wisconsin-Platteville on Saturday.
 
Setter: Lacey Higgins, Wheaton, Junior (Lee’s Summit, Mo.)
Higgins had 10.80 assists per set in three starts for the Thunder last week. She logged 29 assists against Carthage on Wednesday, then had 37 assists and three service aces in a sweep of MSOE on Saturday. She capped off the week with 42 helpers and nine digs against Edgewood on Saturday.
 
Defensive: Bailey Houlihan, North Central, Fifth Year (Naperville, Ill.)
Houlihan collected her third CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week award in 2024 after a pair of strong performances in which NCC collected two CCIW sweeps and secured its spot in the CCIW Tournament.
 
She averaged 7.83 digs in six sets and had 23 digs – fourth-most in the league in a three-set match this season – as the Cardinals upset ninth-ranked Millikin last Wednesday, NCC’s first-ever sweep of a team ranked in the national top 10. Two nights later at Carroll, Houlihan tacked on another 24 digs.
