NAPERVILLE – Carthage’s August Claridge (offensive) and Illinois Wesleyan’s Devon Hanson (defensive) are the recipients of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Lacrosse Student-Athlete of the Week awards, the league office announced Tuesday.
Offensive: August Claridge, Augustana
Claridge broke Carthage’s single-game record for goals with 10 in the Firebirds’ 27-3 CCIW victory at Augustana last Saturday. She added two assists to finish the contest with 12 points. Three days prior, the freshman from Wheaton, Ill. tallied eight goals and an assist to lift Carthage over Illinois Wesleyan, 16-5.
Defensive: Devon Hanson, Illinois Wesleyan
Hanson is the CCIW Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after compiling eight draw controls, eight caused turnovers and six ground balls across two CCIW starts last week.
Hanson’s five caused turnovers in Saturday’s win over Carroll were a personal season high. The Waukesha, Wis. native also had six goals in the win over the Pioneers.
