NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) has chosen Illinois Wesleyan sophomore Noah Dretzka and Elmhurst sophomore Tony Vazquez as Student-Athletes of the Week in men’s lacrosse on Tuesday afternoon.
Offense: Noah Dretzka, Illinois Wesleyan
The 5-foot-11 midfielder had a career day in his first career start for the Titans last Saturday at Carthage, setting new personal bests with five goals and seven points to help IWU beat the Firebirds, 18-13.
The Delafield, Wis. native also had two goals and an assist in a reserve role last Wednesday, helping Illinois Wesleyan defeat North Central, 16-10.
Defense: Tony Vazquez, Elmhurst
Vazquez collected nine ground balls and went 14-for-16 on faceoffs in Elmhurst’s 18-1 CCIW win over Augustana on Saturday. The midfielder from Cottage Grove, Minn. added a first-quarter goal and a caused turnover for the Bluejays in the victory. He's now a two-time CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week in 2024.
