NAPERVILLE -- Elmhurst's Eli Spence joined Illinois Wesleyan's Michael Campagna as College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Lacrosse Student-Athletes of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. The duo helped their teams win their CCIW openers on Saturday.
Offensive: Eli Spence, Elmhurst
Spence secured his second consecutive CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week award, his fourth weekly league honor of the 2024 season and his fifth career award from the league after totaling eight points for the Bluejays in their 13-8 CCIW win at Carthage on Saturday.
The sophomore scored five goals – his fifth outing of five goals or more this season – and added three assists in the win. His goal at the 6:40 mark of the third quarter broke a 7-7 tie and gave EU the lead for good.
Defensive: Michael Campagna, Illinois Wesleyan
The senior from Arlington Heights, Ill. gave the Titans seven ground balls and five caused turnovers – both career highs – in their 16-11 victory over Dubuque last Wednesday.
