NAPERVILLE – Preseason College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) men’s volleyball favorite Carthage slotted eighth, reigning CCIW Tournament winner Loras was tied for 11th and 2023 national finalist North Central was 18th in the preseason American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III poll released on Tuesday.
The Firebirds earned 398 points in the rankings. Loras logged 257 points, the same amount as St. John Fisher. North Central received 102 points.
Augustanta was among nine unranked teams appearing on multiple ballots, earning 17 points in the poll.
Southern Virginia is the preseason #1, claiming 16 of 30 first-place votes. NYU was second in the poll with only a single first-place vote, followed by Cal Lutheran (12 first-place votes) and Stevens (one first-place vote), respectively.
The first in-season poll is set to be published on Jan. 21.
